With respect to process environment, the company adopts dust-free workshop of ten thousand grade and fully automatic production, making IMR production first pass yield rate up to over 90% that is far beyond the industrial level of 70%; in terms of control on IMR product surface hardness, the company has carried out research with a target of breaking through industrial technical bottleneck of 3H/500g, thus ranking top in industry.
In terms of IML technical process, the company combines two technical processes of hot pressing molding and high pressure molding. At present, high pressure molding takes a leading position in industry, which can be used to manufacture high difficulty products with an extrusion height up to 10mm. The application of special surface processes such as surface wire drawing, metal texture, NCVM, digital printing, etc. in IML has been recognized in markets, which has been successfully used for volume production. The company has had mature standard production process for production of ABS, PMMA, PC and PET materials.
1.Product Features
※ Delicate decorative images and texts and built-in identifications have abrasion or chemical corrosion resistance.
※ Images, texts, identifications and colors can change at any time without need to replace the mould.
※ Products are of three-dimensional shapes with accurate printing accuracy, having a deviation of + 0.05mm.
※ Available to have window effect with back transmittance and high light transmission for images, texts and identifications.
※ Buttons have even convexes and should be touched well, with a service life of over 1 million times.
※ Three-dimensional variation can increase freedom of designers in designing products.
※ Combined molding processing can realize the effect of no seam.
2.IMD/IML Application Fields
Industry of household appliances: decorative control panels of rice cooker, washing machine, micro-wave oven, air conditioner, fridge, etc;

3.Development Prospect of IMD Process
At present, IMD internal decorative inlay injection molding, being a new plastic decorative process, has been widely applied to industries such as communication, household appliances, electronics, automobile, meter, instrument, medical device, toy, cosmetic, etc. It supports three-dimensional variation, increase designers’ freedom, and can be used to design products with personalized styles, thus adapting to development demands of the times.
IMD can realize integration of injection molding and decoration, finishing them in one procedure with varieties of different special effects, for example, button convex, metal mirror or extinction surface, metal wire drawing grain, back transmittance, convex point pattern, etc., thus being rich in ornament and
functionality.As the best new process to replace spray painting and electroplating processing of plastic products, IMD technology can reduce subsequent injection processing procedures and really realize the significance of energy saving and environment protection in case of promotion and wide application in plastic industry, which will bring huge economic and social benefits for society and enterprises.
4.IMD Process Flow
First, it is necessary to explain in terms of concept:
IMD contains IML, IMF and IMR.
IML: IN MOLDING LABEL (combination of printing rubber materials and plastics)
IMF: IN MOLDING FILM (same as IML)
IMR: IN MOLDING ROLLER (there is a focus on release coating on rubber material. PET FILM → mold release agent coating → printing ink coating → adhesive coating → internal plastic ejection → adhesion of ink and plastic → automatic release of rubber material from ink after mold opening. This is called thermal transfer in Japan. This machine adopts ROLL TO TOLL mode, and its counterpoint is operated with a CCD computer.)Currently, some people in China call IRM as IMD and make IML independent of IMD. The most fundamental difference lies in difference of IML and IMR on lens surface, as IML surface has PET or PC sheet while IMR surface has ink only.
IML sheet can be PET or PC, which may have some difference from contents of last post, with a possible reason of difference of companies in technical level. For issues about materials of PET and PC, it should not need to explain. Plastic particle generally adopts PMMA and ABS. IML and IMR have respective advantages, but IMR has weaker abrasion resistance, for example, some Nokia and Moto mobile phones are manufactured with IMR technology and will have some scratches after a long time of use; the biggest defect of IML lies in that it limits IML technology to some certain regions rather than all areas.
